Port Dickson is a beach and resort town on the west coast of Malaysia, situated in the state of Negeri Sembilan. With its coastline stretching over eighteen kilometers, it is no wonder the area is held in such esteem by the locals. But it is not just the locals that fall in love with the area; such are the attraction of the swaying palms and gently lapping waves of the Straits of Malacca.

Of this impressive stretch of coastline, there are two hot destinations for those on the tourist trail. If a day of fun and activity is in your schedule, Teluk Kemang makes an excellent choice. Just along the coast road from the village itself, at the nine mile marker, the region offers any and all water sports you could wish for; from surfing to parasailing and everything in between.

Equally popular on the tourist trail is The Blue Lagoon, located just eleven miles to the south. A quieter setting, it is ever so slightly off the beaten track so affords a more peaceful setting that many may find more attractive.

The water plays a central role in the region, and was the first location as the worldwide yachting sport came to the shores of Malaysia some years ago. This tradition continues with the immensely well appointed marina, where yachts people of any age and experience are welcomed.

There are many more activities to keep visitors interested however, including many historical and cultural sites. From the museum and fort at the old tin mining village of Lukut, to simply enjoying the breathtaking vistas along the coast; there is something for everyone.

The activities do not stop as the time wears on; with a host of nightlife to choose from. The restaurants of Port Dickson are well renowned, with many of the finest chefs of Malaysia heading to the resort. Creating local specialties and fusion food is somewhat of maxim for the area too.

For younger visitors to the area; perhaps backpacking around Asia, no trip is complete without a night beneath the stars at one of the camps that sprout up in the beach. However, should a more permanent structure be required; there are plenty to choose from.

When choosing a Port Dickson hotel; the choice is not an easy one. All the major chains have a presence; whilst there are a number of private ventures. Whatever the choice, you are sure to have wonderful time.
