Taking a look at log cabin kits reveals a nicely affordable and easy-to-assemble kit lodge or home
Just about any cabin kit today is extremely easy to assemble and can also be extremely functional in ways other than just as a summer lodge. For example, there are a number of uses outside of a three season home for one of these cabins. Also, just about any of them come in widely-known standard sizes and are also scalable upwards in size, if needed.
What all this means is that any standard size cabin can be added to and even made into a variety of different shapes, including classic 'L' and 'H' shapes. Every cabin kit of good quality comes ready for at least three seasons and some are even four seasons-capable. Walls are non-insulated, so don't forget to keep that in mind when considering a cabin of this type.
Generally speaking, there's no sawing or drilling to be done when putting one of these kits together, as the panels all come ready to be assembled. This also includes the roof, which can also be put together and assembled along with the wall panels in a surprisingly short amount of time. Truly, these cabins can be simplicity itself to assemble.
Keep in mind that each of the panels for the walls that are delivered have two different sides and that each side is shaped differently. The exterior wall panels will be milled so that they resemble round wooden logs while the insides come dressed out in rustic-looking knotty pine. The look is actually quite attractive and also very durable.
Small cabin sizes can also be put together with only a ladder, a screw gun, a level, a hammer and a chalk line. Usually, 2 to 3 people will be needed in order to assemble the cabin and it can generally be erected and ready to go in about a day. This is for a 12' x 12' cabin, with larger cabins or cabins that are shaped differently taking a bit longer.
When it comes to pricing a log cabin kit, know that a 12' x 12' version with just the basics will run about $4200. A 12' x 32' kit with just the basics usually comes in at under $7200. Add in a couple thousand dollars for some amenities and the fact is that a very large cabin can still be had for well under $10,000, making one of these kits a real bargain, in truth.
