Anyone who has tried to get on the property ladder can realise how hard it is, especially if you ar
e young or have a family. You will be pleased to know that if you meet the criteria you can now get a government grant for home buyers. This will mean that you do not have to throw money away on rental, when at least with your income you will know you are putting money towards something that belongs to you.

There are stipulations that apply when it comes to being able to get the grant and one such stipulation is that you will have enough money coming in each month and year so that payments can be met on your mortgage so that you do not end up without a home at all.

Depending on the amount of dependants that reside in your home will be highly dependant on the amount the government will feel you are entitled to. You must be aware though that if you have people staying in your home who are not related to you in any way this will not count.

The more you have in terms of income, will mean that the more dependants you have the higher the grant you will be able to get towards your mortgage down payment.

There are a lot of different programmes available and the one that you will be put on will be dependant on the area in which you live.

If you were to get a loan rather than a grant this would be another payment that you would have to meet, where as with the grant you would only have to pay it back if you were to sell your house within a certain amount of time. Having the grant will allow you to put any money you have toward the mortgage rather than having to worry about paying off a load toward the down payment also.

Reasons why you may be refused the government grant include people who have had their own property in the past three years. There are other reasons also such as those who are not able to get a mortgage that has a low interest rate. There are also certain guidelines when it comes to the amount you have coming in from your job, in relation to the amount of people that live with you. These amounts can be different depending on where you live because the government are aware that living expenses vary from area to area.

There other reasons why you cannot get the grant, and the first is if you have had a loan from the government in the past and have not kept up with repayments. Another reason for not being accepted is if you have a child/children and have not paid as you have been ordered to. This grant will mean that many more people are able to own their own homes where they may not have been able to without such help.
