When waiting to see what the gender of your baby is going to be, the Chinese conception chart is a
fun way to get a guess. This chart has been around for many centuries and is said to have been found in a royal tomb. It is now in the Beijing Institute of Science in China on display.

The chart is not completely accurate. The method of determining gender uses the woman's age and month of conception. The most accurate results use lunar months instead of the regular months. These months run about 29 days.

You can just look at the ages themselves and come to an idea whether or not you will have a boy or girl or not. The ages are ranged from 18 to 45. On the chart the ages more likely of having a girl are 21, 22, 30, 31, 32, and 34. If you are 18, 20, 23, 26, 31, or 43, you are more likely to have a boy. However, there are some ages where there is no higher percentage of one more than the other. These ages are 28, 29, 35, 40, 42, and 45. If you are 19, 24, or 33, there is a 7 to 5 odd that you will have a girl. It is not as definite as the other ages but it is still more likely than having a boy. The exact opposite of having a boy with the same odds 25, 27, 36, 37, 41, and 44.

Looking at the conception months, things are less broad. The months do not lean as much one way or the other as the ages do. In January, February, May, and October the odds of having a boy are much higher than of having a girl. July is the best month to try to get pregnant if wanting to have a boy. June, August, September, and November, while not extremely greater, it is more common to have a girl according to the chart. April has better odds of producing a girl. If you do not care either way then March and December are good months for you.

It varies month to month and age to age, but the chart is not a science. This was most likely devised by Chinese people to make certain months and ages look better for having boys. Either way though, it is a fifty-fifty chance of having a boy or girl.

When using the Chinese conception chart, it is good to remember that it is all in good fun. It is an entertaining way to get a guess at your baby's gender. Sometimes the chart proves true, but it is not 100% accurate and in no way scientific. So, use this chart for a bit of entertaining, but not for getting your hopes up about how to design your baby room.
